1-2-1 (Private) Sewing Classes

Our diaries are now open for 2026 private sewing sessions!

There are times during sewing that you get stuck, frustrated and maybe not even sure where to start, regardless of your level of experience and it's during these times when you just need a friendly face and teacher to help guide you through those trickier times! 

Our private sewing classes offer a unique and personalised experience for individuals (or even small group bookings) who want to embark on a creative journey that we have tailored together that are specific to your needs. It's the opportunity to learn at your pace, tackle projects that are of your own interest and receive that support and guidance that Google/YouTube aren't able to give. 

Examples of things that we have covered during previous private sewing sessions include:

- Learning how to use a sewing machine and tackling their first basic project

- Learning how to read a dressmaking pattern, taking measurements and sew a garment

- Learning how to sew cushions which include piping/zips/buttonholes. 

- How to take your body measurements, picking the size to sew and knowing how/when to alter a pattern. 

- How to make clothing alterations on "ready to wear" clothes. 

Times/Dates:

We currently offer private sewing session during the evenings between 4.30pm - 8.30pm. The sessions can be booked as both individual sessions, or you can block book a series of dates, depending on the type of sessions you are looking for. 

Location:

We run our private sewing classes at Just Sew, Penrith, CA11 7HJ. 

Fee:

Private sessions are charged at £20 per hour, excluding any materials. We will provide a full breakdown on costs once we have created an agenda for your session. 

We ask that payment is made a minimum of 48 hours prior to your session. 

How To Book:

To book a private sewing session, please send an email to lucy@sewcumbria.co.uk and outline what you would like to do during the session and your availability. Lucy will then liaise directly with you, confirming the date/time of the session as well as an outlined schedule.
