Join Lucy on this day workshop, ran from Just Sew, Penrith and sew yourself a seasonal pinafore

On this workshop you get the opportunity to sew a beautifully finished, fully lined pinafore with your choice of a relaxed A-line silhouette or a sleek slim fit style. With button down straps, button accents, and practical pockets, this versatile pinafore is a stylish, hardworking addition to any handmade wardrobe.   

You'll learn lots of techniques on this workshop including;

• Constructing a fully lined pinafore dress
• Sewing functional or stitched button-down straps
• Add top-stitching for subtle or bold detail
• Work with A-line and Slim Fit Silhouettes
• Inserting pockets into a lined garment
• Managing clean lines and structed seams
• Understanding and selecting cup sizes for the perfect fit. 

Size range for this workshop is 6 - 34 (bust 29.5" - 61", waist 24" - 51" and hips 35" - 62")

You do need to have some sewing machine experience for this course and have sewn some basic dressing making garments.

What you will need to bring with you

• Main fabric
  • Fabric suggestions: Medium weight woven fabrics such as; babycord/needlecord, denim, cotton duck, jacquard, brocade, drill, wool, and velvet
    
• Lining fabric;
  • Fabric suggestions; Light weight wovens; cotton lawn, anti-static lining
• Fabric for pockets
  • To reduce bulk we advise to bring fabric for your pocket bags instead of using your outer fabric. 
  • Fabric suggestions; cotton poplin, cotton lawn, linens
• Fusible Interfacing 
• 2x 40mm (1 5/8") wide buttons
• Matching Thread
• Optional Topstitching Thread
• Sewing Machine and Sewing Kit (don't forget your paper scissors!)
  • If preferred, for an additional £5.00 you can hire one of our sewing machines. Please notify us before the workshop if you would like to hire a machine.

Full fabric quantities will be given on booking confirmation as the required amount varies on the size you wish to sew.  

The pattern used for this workshop is the Ivy Pinafore pattern from Jennifer Lauren Handmade.
