Sew Your Own Quilted Jacket
This 5 week evening workshop, ran from Just Sew Penrith, is designed for those that are wanting to expand on their dressmaking skills and master all the skills involved for sewing your own (reversible) Quilted Jacket
Over this 5 week evening workshop you will learn to sew a beautifully textured, drop shoulder jacket with modern lines, and generous pockets. Working different lengths from copped to mid-length options, you'll create a fully quilted (and reversible if you like!) bais bound edged jacket that's as cosy as it is stylish .
There's lots to learn on this workshop including;
- Constructing a quilted a jacket from layering, quilting and assembling
- Sewing angled featured pockets
- Applying binding to edges for a clean, professional finish (as well as making your jacket reversible!)
- Working with drop shoulder shaping
- Managing bulk and quilted seams
Size range for the quilted jacket is size 0 - 34 (Bust 32" - 60", Waist 24" - 52", Hip 34" - 62")
You do need to have some sewing machine experience but not necessarily dressmaking.
Course Dates: Thursday 5th February, Thursday 12th February, Thursday 19th February, Thursday 26th February and Thursday 5th March.
Course Start: 17.30pm
Course Finish 20.30pm

What's provided
- Sewing Craft Room environment at Just Sew, Penrith, CA11 7HJ
- Tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the workshop
- Paper pattern and instruction booklet
What you will need to bring with you
- Outer and Lining fabric
- Suggested fabrics: light to medium weight wovens like cotton, linen and chambray.
- Avoid heavy/thick fabrics or your jacket will become too bulky.
- Suggested fabrics: light to medium weight wovens like cotton, linen and chambray.
- Wadding
- Bias Binding
- Matching Thread
- Walking Foot for your sewing machine
- This will help with quilting your layers and minimising puckered stitches.
- Sewing Machine and Sewing Kit (don't forget your paper scissors!)
- If preferred, for an additional £15.00 you can hire one of our sewing machines. Please notify us before the workshop if you would like to hire a machine.
