Sew Your Own Weekend Trousers

Join Lucy on this 2 day workshop, ran from Just Sew, Penrith and sew yourself your own athleisure weekend trousers

These athleisure weekend trousers are a relaxed-fit, pull-on style with a flattering full-length straight leg and comfortable elasticated waistband. Combining the comfort of your favourite loungewear with a stylish, contemporary look, they're perfect for everyday wear – whether paired with trainers and a casual top or dressed up for a smarter look.

With options to add contrasting side panels, pockets (using concealed zips), a drawstring waist and decorative trims (in particular piping and ribbon trims), there's plenty of opportunity to make your trousers unique to you. Choose your favourite knit fabric and create a comfortable, stylish pair of trousers that you'll want to wear on repeat!

Size range for this workshop is 6 - 30 (waist 23.5" - 53" and hips 33" - 62.5")

You do need to have some sewing machine experience for this course, as well as having had some basic dressmaking experience.

What you will need to bring with you

You can also use a woven fabric for the side leg panel of a similar weight to the main fabric. If making your trousers with a heavier weight fabric, you can use a lighter weight or lining fabric for the pocket bags, to help reduce bulk at the hips.

  • Fusible interfacing
  • 2x 20cm invisible zips (if adding pockets)
  • Drawstring cord (no wider than 10mm) and 2 end caps
  • Contrast ribbon/piping trims (optional)
    • If using ribbon, this should be no wider then 30mm.
  • Sewing Machine and Sewing Kit (don't forget your paper scissors!)
    • If you're adding the pockets and/or using decorative, you will need an invisible zipper foot for your sewing machine.
    • If preferred, for an additional £15.00 you can hire one of our sewing machines. Please notify us before the workshop if you would like to hire a machine.

Full fabric quantities will be given on booking confirmation as the required amount varies depending on the size you wish to sew.
